Punjab Assembly Election 2017 Opinion Poll Results: AAP likely to win 85-89 seats; SAD-BJP coalition may get 9-13; Arvind Kejriwal rated most favourite for CM post

Chandigarh, Mar 22: Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that registered landslide victory in Delhi Assembly Elections, is heading towards another triumph in polls. AAP is likely to win 85-89 seats in the Punjab Assembly Elections 2017, according to a opinion poll conducted by a portal called ‘India Trending Now’. The opinion poll also projected Arvind Kejriwal as the most favourite leader for the chief ministerial post of Punjab.

According to the opinion poll results, AAP is expected to emerge as the largest party in the Punjab Assembly Elections 2017 winning 85-89 seats. Punjab Assembly has 117 members. Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress party is likely to win 16-20 seats in the upcoming election. The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition would get third place bagging just 9-13 seats, says the opinion poll results.

As per poll results, AAP would get 39-43 per cent of the total vote share, while the Congress would have 29-33 per cent vote share. SAD-BJP coalition is expected to win just 21-25 per cent of vote share. The numbers are major setback for ruling SAD-BJP coalition in Punjab. SAD and BJP won 66 seats combine in last election but there numbers are going to be between 9-13 only, predicts the survey. (india.com)
